Periodontal Treatment

You should have a standard dental cleaning at least twice a year. A periodontal treatment includes an adult prophylaxis (basic cleaning). If it has been over a year since your last cleaning, possible treatment will include either periodontal scaling (deeper) or root planing and scaling (requires anesthetic). It is important to visit the dentist at least twice a year for your cleanings in order to avoid periodontal disease.  When left untreated, periodontal disease has been linked to:

  • Pregnancy complications
  • Stroke
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes

Some of the signs and symptoms of periodontal (gum) disease include bleeding gums, red gums, and swollen gums, so if you experience any of those symptoms, please contact Hanosh Family Dentistry in Paradise today to receive the care you need.
